EC Kim wins Touring Modified class at 2019 GIRC

The 2019 GRC International RC Car Championship GIRC was held at the GRC Raceway in Gimpo, South Korea over the weekend. The event attracted over 100 entires including guests from abroad such as Germany’s Marc Rheinard and Singapore’s Dominic Quek. In the Touring Modified class it was Zero Tribe’s EC Kim with the overall TQ from Infinity’s Marc Rheinard on the 2 spot after the qualifiers. A1 and A2 then saw pretty dominant wins of EC for the early overall victory while the remaining podium spots were hard fought for. Ultimately it was Xray’s Dominic Quek with the runner-up spots following 2-3-1 results in the finals as Yokomo’s Dong Uk Jang came in 3rd with 3-4-2 finishes. Marc Rheinard suffered of some problems in the A-mains and had to settle for 4th overall with 4-2-8 results.

Ronald Völker TQs & wins at Mon-Tech NYGP

360v2 RC of New Rochelle, New York played host to the 2019 Mon-Tech NYGP this past weekend. The event attracted nearly 200 entries not only from the U.S. but also from Europe, making for some very competitive racing in the several 1/10th and 1/12th scale classes. In Touring Modified it was Yokomo’s Ronald Völker from Germany with the overall TQ thanks to winning three of the four qualifiers. Xray’s top Swede, Alexander Hagberg came in 2nd with a single round TQ from U.S. boy Sam Isaacs (Awesomatix) in 3rd. The A-mains then saw Ronald making a clean sweep in A1 and A2 for the early overall win from A3 winner, Sam Isaacs in 2nd. Alexander Hagberg scored 2nd place finished in A1 and A3 but suffered a DNF in A2 meaning he had to settle for 3rd overall after the tie-breaker.

Exotek FGX Shimizu tyre adapter rings

Coming from Exotek are their new Shimizu tyre adapter rings for the 3Racing FGX foam tyre wheel sets. The all CNC-machined delrin adaptor rings allow mounting of Shimizu F104 and Tamiya TCS F104 tyres onto the FGX foam wheels. The must have for carpet and cool weather racing allows the use of softer high grip compounds on the FGX. The rings are simply glued into place on the wheels and thereafter allows perfectly true mounting of the Shimizu F104 tyres onto the wheels. The adaptor set includes four rings, usable on the front of the rear rims with two sets being needed to outfit a complete set of wheels.

MonacoRC Wrap Shield

MonacoRC have introduced their new Wrap Shield protective sheets that are ideal to cover chargers, transmitters and other delicate items during transportation and storage. Available in three different sizes from 28cm to 48cm the sheets feature a padded centre section for extra protection and they are decorated with custom MonacoRC labels and graphics. Hook and look straps help to keep the shields securely closed. The sheets are available separately for as a convenient 3-piece set.

Tomas Liptak wins at Austrian IC Track Nats Rd4

Round 4 of the Austrian IC Track Nationals was held at the MORAC track in Graz recently. In the 1/8th IC Track class it was Branislav Panak with the overall TQ, from Tamas Sagi 2nd and Bjan Miklozic in 3rd position. Tomas Liptak would round out the top 4 after the qualifiers. Later Branislav had to take a ten minutes timeout because of some problems with his car so he started from the back of the grid in the opening 20-minute A-main event. The win would went to Tomas after a clean run with Tamas Sagi 2nd and Branislav Panak 3rd. The second of the dual A-mains saw Tomas taking the lead some three laps onto the race and from there he never looked back to take the win with Branislav in 2nd and Tamas in 3rd place. Overall it was Tomas with the win from Tamas 2nd and Branislav in 3rd place.

MTS T3 mid-motor conversion kit

Coming soon from MTS is a mid-motor conversion kit for their T3 electric touring car. The set includes a new lower chassis plate, multi-piece motor and layshaft mount, a C-shaped centre bar to adjust chassis stiffness and included is also a reversible upper deck that allows to fine-tune the stiffness of the front or rear end of the car; also by using the supplied carbon fibre plates. The set is rounded out by a new spur gear mount, front and and rear belts as well as carbon fibre battery locators.

Ramp roll out new B6.1 & B74 carbon fibre optionals

Ramp have announced the release of new carbon fibre option parts for the Team Associated B6.1/T6.1 and B74 off-road kits. First up is an O-ring battery retention system that ensures quick and easy battery swaps of both standard and LCG shorty batteries while the design also allows for effortless battery position tuning and more natural chassis flex. The set includes two carbon fibre battery braces, mounting hardware and two high-quality rubber O-rings. The set is usable on both the B6.1 buggy and T6.1 truck.

Also new are -2mm carbon fibre Ackermann plates for the B74 4WD buggy. Machined from high-quality carbon fibre their updated geometry makes for a more aggressive steering feeling which comes in handy when running in wet astro turf conditions or on very tight carpet tracks. The set includes direct fit left and right hand -2mm Ackermann plates.

ISDT 608AC smart charger

Coming from ISDT is their all-new 608AC smart charger that is usable with both AC or DC input power. The modular design of the device allows to use it with an external 12VDC power source such as the new, modular AC power supply that conveniently attaches to the charger’s case, doing away with unnecessary wiring. The charger features a built-in 2S to 6S LiPo balancer, a back-lit display, and it supports ISDT’s BattGo one-click smart battery technology that allows for automatic battery detection when using compatible battery packs. Menu operation is carried out using a single shuttle roll twist and push knob and the charger is capable of up to 200W of charing power when used in DC mode.

Shepherd Velox V8.2 carbon chassis aero kit

Shepherd have announced the release of their new carbon aero kit for the chassis of their popular Velox V8.2 1/8th nitro on-road kit. The set was developed to reduce turbulences under the car, with the slicker surface making for higher top speeds. Two inserts are included in the set, a small one which is fixed with one centre screw and a longer one for the front chassis cut-out which is fixed using two screws that also allow to fine-tune the flex characteristic of the front end. The German-made carbon design set is available from now on.

KARS On-Road Championship – Report

The KARS On-Road Championship was recently held at the Icheon track in Korea with about 50 drivers in attendance. The 1/8th nitro main final was a close affair between Germany’s Andreas Giesa, 3-times Korean champion Kiyong Hong and Jaekook Yoo with the top 3 finishing within one lap. After 40 minutes Andreas saw the checkered in first position about five seconds in front of Kiyong. Jaekook completed the podium another two seconds down.

In the 1/10th Nitro Touring class things were more clear as Patrick Schäfer was able to take the victory with a massive gap of seven laps over the remainder of the field. Yanghyeun Kim took the runner-up spot and Gyujin Lee grabbed the final podium place another lap down.

The 1/8th electric class was dominated by young female racer Nayeon Lee. She took the overall TQ and won all three finals to secure the top spot on the podium. Seonguk Jeong finished in 2bd place with Jeongsoo Park completing the podium.

Yeah Racing DF03 spring steel CV driveshafts

JConcepts introduce new B74 carbon fibre optionals

Coming from JConcepts are several new carbon fibre optional parts for the Team Associated B74 4WD buggy. First up is the hanging servo mount plate, an updated part to the original design as mounting and securing the servo on the B74 is critical, because the hanging servo mount plate requires durability and reliability in all aspects. The 2.5mm thickness, genuine carbon fibre material is durable, lightweight and features the JConcepts milled sections which help maintain strength while minimising weight. The mounting pattern remains standard for quick attachment in the correct position.

Next up is a carbon fibre battery brace. Machined from 2.5mm thickness material, the brace features milled sections which help maintain strength while minimising weight. The mounting pattern remains standard for quick attachment and adjustments. Also new is the carbon fibre steering bellcrank arm. The 3.0mm thickness arm features a mounting pattern slightly altered compared to the original to optimise the design and durability of the proximity of the holes. Reinforcing the front end of the chassis is a 2.5mm thickness front top deck whose mounting pattern remains standard for quick attachment and has the layout allowing the front body mount plate to drop into position. For the centre of the chassis JConcepts offer a centre bulkhead top plate made from 2.5mm material. The mounting pattern remains standard for quick attachment and has the layout necessary to allow differential removal. Last but not least come front and rear body mount plates, again made of 2.5mm carbon fibre and featuring a ribbed and chamfered design as all of the above parts. The mounting patterns remain standard for quick attachment and they have the layout necessary to allow the plastic body mount to attach. The body mount plates are available separately for the front and rear of the chassis.

SRP iCharger 308/406 Duo V2 charger stand

Schaffner Racing Products have introduced their new V2 charger stand for the popular iCharger 308 and 406 Duo chargers. The all new design sits 25mm lower than its predecessor, and is easier to assemble due to its unique dual tab/slot design. It also straddles any power supply up to 87mm wide, which helps to maximise the functionality of any pit space and holds the charger at the perfect angle for viewing from the seated position. The stand is 3-D-printed, weighs in at about 56g and it is available in all black as well as black/red, black/pink, black/orange, black/green and black/blue variants.

Tamiya XB Tyrell P34 1976 Japan GP rolling chassis kit

Coming soon from Tamiya is the Expert Built series XB Tyrell P34 1976 Japan GP 6-wheeler formula car, a pre-built and pre-painted rolling chassis kit. The vehicle resembles one of the most iconic Formula 1 cars in history with the XB series allowing drivers to enter the track a lot faster compared to a traditional kit as the car comes factory-assembled and painted, ready for your own choice of steering servo, controller and battery to be added. Six grippy foam tyres ensure great traction in most track conditions with the pre-decorated body making the car standing out. The F103 based rolling chassis will become available by the end of November.

Axial SCX10 II 1955 Ford F-100 RTR trail truck

Axial have unveiled the latest body shell variant for their popular SCX10 II trail truck, the 1955 Ford F-100. The truck builds on the proven SCX10 II 4×4 truck chassis with AR44 axles, optimised 3.75 gear ratio and multi-link suspension. The body features authentic details including a front grille with chrome-coated plastic radiator and front-mounted driving lights with LEDs installed. Mounting positions are built-in to add optional LEDs for headlights and turn signal markers. Schumacher welcome back Tom Cockerill

Schumacher Racing welcome back Tom Cockerill to their race team. Tom is well known inside and outside Schumacher Racing, as a previous employee, BRCA UK Champion with Schumacher cars and Worlds and Euros A-finalist. Tom will compete at major UK races and also make international appearances from time to time and he had the following to say:

I’d like to thank Robin, Muz, and Trish for the opportunity to return home to Schumacher for the 2020 season and beyond. I’m looking forward to working with the team from the other side of the fence, and helping improve the team and products where I can.

2019/20 XRS PLMS Poland – Announcement

Xray have announced the XRS PLMS Poland series for the 2019/20 indoor season. Kicking off on the 12th of October and having their final round on the 21rd of March, the series will be held in Touring Modified, Touring 13.5T Stock as well as Formula 21.5T classes using Hudy tyres, additives and also XRS motors for the Stock classes.
